Mutton Bustin’


  • 4–7-year-olds (age at time of event, June 21, 2023)
  • Under 55 lbs
  • Wear long sleeve shirt & jeans


  • Youngsters will ride sheep out of a bucking chute into the rodeo arena
  • Each competitor will be timed and judged on their riding skills
  • Required to sit up straight – no choke holds
  • Top riders each night will ride again during the rodeo performance to determine who advances to the finals during the fourth performance.

Further Details

  • Meet at Southeast entrance to the arena at 6:00 pm – Event begins at 6:30 pm. Will get last minute instructions from organizers. Only 1 parent will be allowed in the arena with the participants. All participants and parents must have tickets to gain admittance – no tickets provided.
  • Will be outfitted in protective helmets
  • Event is 30 children each night. Please complete the entry form and liability release below by Monday, June 20th. The participants will be contacted by phone with details on times and dates.
  • This year, there will be a $20 entry fee. Online applications will be available.

Mutton Bustin’ Championship

Hang On! It’s time for the 2022 Mutton Bustin’ Championship. Mutton Bustin’ has grown to be one of the most popular and entertaining events at the Rodeo of the Ozarks. Like the cowboy bucking events, time and score count, but all contestants receive trophies. The winner each evening will compete for the overall Champion on June 24th at the Rodeo.
